Barra was born on the 15th of March 2010, he was then picked up from Wales on the 1st of May 2010, and taken to his new home in Dumbarton.
Shortly after Iain then saw Barra's potential and decided he wanted to get Barra trained and qualified to be a Victim Recovery dog. Just under a year later from the start of Barra’s training he was qualified as Scotland's first Submerged Victim Recovery Dog, and this was when K9 Search & Recovery Scotland was created.
Barra has been tasked to many searches over the UK and has provided closure to families that they had been longing for. On the 14th of June 2022, after 11 years of service it was Barra’s time to put his paws up and enjoy his truly deserved retirement.
