BILLY*

In July 2014 little Billy, a Cyprus Poodle, was beaten and thrown into a non-operational cardboard crushing machine by two employees at a Protaras hotel in Cyprus after guests complained about him wandering in the hotel grounds. He was rescued by passing tourists who heard his cries. He spent weeks in a coma with certain organisations seemingly using his suffering to promote their work instead of being humanely being allowed to rest in peace.

The case was investigated and taken to court but justice was not sufficiently served. For a while Billy was used as a symbol for animal abuse on the island but now has, to all intents and purposes, been forgotten so after a few requests we decided that his memory would live on and we are proud to include him as one of our heroes. RIP Billy.
