Jake's Story as told by dad, William: Jake was rescued by me from a burning shed in April of 2015. Jake suffered burns over 50-75% of his body including all 4 paws. I administered mouth to snout on Jake until our pet oxygen mask could be applied as he was not breathing once he was out of shed. Two days later I learned his original family had abandoned him at the vet. I contacted the vet to confirm this. After it was confirmed I told the vet I would take him. Jake had to go through about 3-4 months of medicated baths, cold laser therapy and remain on antibiotics for infection prevention as well as morphine for pain. During this process Jake started going to the Fire Dept with me and quickly won over many people. My Department swore him in as an honorary Firefighter and made him our Official Mascot. Jake went out on calls with us, tested hydrants with us, and even went into the elementary school with us to help teach fire safety. Jake is now retired from the Firehouse life and spends most of his days sleeping on the couch at our home and being a very spoiled boy. He also is an advocate for Bully breeds.
